Slack
Post new comments to a Slack channel. Slack is visibility. Linear is tracking.
Connect Slack
1
Open settings
Go to your dashboard and click Settings in the sidebar.
2
Connect your workspace
Click Connect Slack. Approve the install in Slack. One Slack workspace maps to one Lay account.
i
If another Lay account already connected that workspace, disconnect it there first, or sign in with that account.
3
Pick a channel per project
Open a project. Enable Slack and choose a public channel. Each project can post to a different channel.
i
Private channels are not listed. Turning Slack off on a project stops new posts. It does not disconnect the workspace.
What posts
Slack is one-way. Lay posts into the channel. Slack does not write back.
- A new root comment posts a message: page, quoted text, element, author, and Open in Lay.
- Replies post in that message's thread.
- Screenshot and developer triage update the original message when they are ready.
i
Marking a comment done from Slack is not available yet. Resolve it in Lay or in Linear.
With Linear
Slack and Linear can both be on. The same comment can become a Linear issue and a Slack post. Linear keeps the issue. Slack tells the channel.
Disconnecting
Disconnect Slack from Settings to remove the connection, tokens, and project channel configs. Messages already in Slack stay there.
